Founder, Managing Partner, President

Mr. Horn founded Persimmon Capital Management, LP in December of 1998 to provide investment consulting services to family offices, high net worth families, foundations and endowments. In 1999, Mr. Horn also founded Persimmon Research Partners, Inc., now known as ADVISORport, Inc., a PFPC Worldwide, Inc. subsidiary. ADVISORport provides technology and operational infrastructure outsourcing services to enterprise financial services companies such as Charles Schwab, SunTrust, and Nationwide. Assets under administration at ADVISORport have grown from $400 million in 1999 to over $100 billion today. ADVISORport has been sold to PFPC Worldwide, a division of PNC Financial.  Most recently, Persimmon Capital’s principals and a former co-founder of ADVISORport, formed AlphaHedge Capital Partners, LLC, a platform developed to deliver the strategies of carefully researched and selected long/short equity hedge funds in a separately managed account providing advisors and their clients with access to these talented fund managers in a Transparent, Liquid structure controlled by the investor (www.alphahedge.com).

Prior to the formation of Persimmon, Mr. Horn was the President and co-founder of Ashbridge Investment Management, Inc., where he developed all facets of the investment consulting capacity for a family holding company. Assets under supervision reached nearly $1 billion by 1998. Prior to Ashbridge, Mr. Horn was a Vice President of Mellon Bank, heading the Personal and Family division of Mellon Private Capital Management, the high net worth group within Mellon’s Trust Department. Prior to Mellon, Mr. Horn was employed at Mid-Atlantic Companies where he headed the asset management group. Previous to Mid-Atlantic Companies, Mr. Horn was a Vice President for the real estate investment banking arm of American Express. Mr. Horn is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where he received a bachelor’s degree and an MBA.

Arthur J. Holly

Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Holly is the Chief Investment Officer for Persimmon Capital Management and manages the investment team including the investment research process and asset management strategies for the firm.  He has 30+ years of progressive experience managing hedge fund assets, structuring alternative strategy vehicles, conducting extensive due diligence and developing asset allocation policy.  Prior to joining Persimmon in 2014, Mr. Holly was the Head of Investment Solutions, North America, for the Man Group, plc, a $60 billion asset management firm specializing in alternative investment strategies.  His other responsibilities at Man included Head of Portfolio Management, North America, and he was a member of the Global Asset Allocation and the Global Product and Portfolio Boards.  Prior to Man he was the Director of Hedge Fund Development for Merrill Lynch where his team managed $25 billion in hedge fund and related assets.  Mr. Holly previously managed his own long/short equity strategy at Athena Securities for a decade and also headed the Event Driven Desk for Banc of America Securties and was a proprietary trader for T.C. Management Partners and Union Bank of Switzerland in both long/short equities and credit instruments.  Mr. Holly is a graduate of Villanova University with a Finance degree and a minor in Computer Science.

Amy Armstrong

Partner, Vice President of Client Services

Ms. Armstrong has been with PCM since its founding. Her responsibilities include overseeing the account initialization process, interfacing with clients on a daily basis by handling their inquiries and addressing any issues that may arise, and reviewing client portfolios regularly as well as their monthly and quarterly reports. In 2002 she earned her Series 66 Investment Advisor Representative license. Prior to Persimmon, Ms. Armstrong was a Registered Sales Assistant in the Private Client Group of PaineWebber, Inc. from 1995 to 1999, where she obtained her Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. She supported three brokers in the day-to-day operation of their business. Prior to PaineWebber, Ms. Armstrong worked for Midlantic Bank, N.A. in the Credit Department. She is a graduate of the University of Scranton with a B.S. in Finance.

Tim Melly

CFA, Vice President - Research

Mr. Melly joined Persimmon in May of 2014 and is responsible for all facets of the research process at Persimmon including capital market research, mutual fund and manager research and is a member of the firm’s investment committee.  He is also involved in portfolio design and risk management of the firm’s asset management vehicles.  Prior to joining Persimmon, Mr. Melly served as the Director of Research for an independent advisory firm serving high net worth individuals where he developed risk based portfolios and was responsible for manager due diligence. In 2005, Mr. Melly was employed with SEI Investments where he supported the private wealth management division. Previous to SEI, Mr. Melly served as a research analyst for Hirtle Callaghan and Associates. Mr. Melly is a graduate of Drexel University, where he received two bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Economics. Mr. Melly also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Executive Vice President, Senior Wealth Advisor

Mr. Kaehr is primarily responsible for managing the wealth of high net worth individuals and families, foundations and endowments and developing additional clients for the firm.  Mr. Kaehr began working in the financial industry as a Financial Analyst with W.R. Grace in Boston, MA, after which he joined Northern Trust in Chicago, IL where for nearly six years he provided investment consulting services to a large number of wealthy families.  In 2015, he left Northern Trust to join Sage Private Wealth Group and then joined Persimmon in January of this year.  Mr. Kaehr brings a unique blend of academic and professional credentials and experience to the Persimmon team. His general business education and financial planning focus and skills give him deep insights into the complexity of families and their multi-generational planning needs.  Mr. Kaehr will add significant strength to the advisory team here at Persimmon and together with the due diligence and research efforts of the firm we are confident that he will add a valuable dimension to organization.

Mr. Kaehr earned a B.S. with a dual major in Finance and Financial Management Services and Business and Financial Planning from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management in 2006.  He is also earned his Certified Financial Planner designation in June 2012.

Erica Gaffey
Associate, Client Services

Erica works closely with the partners and staff, assisting in the administrative and operational support for all aspects of the firm.  Prior to joining Persimmon, Erica was a Client Associate for an advisory team at Merrill Lynch and previously worked for APG, an investment advisory firm specializing in retirement planning.  Erica is a graduate of Wilkes University with a B.A. in International Politics.

Brad Brubaker

Mr. Brubaker is responsible for the financial and accounting functions of the organization. He has over 16 years of experience in financial services, private accounting, and “Big 4” public accounting. Prior to joining Persimmon, Mr. Brubaker was the Vice President and Senior Operations Manager at Lockwood Financial, a Bank of New York Company, and one of the largest financial services companies in the United States. Prior to that, Mr. Brubaker was Vice President for Operations for Advisorport, Inc., now known as PNC Managed Investments Inc., a PNC Financial subsidiary. Prior to that, Mr. Brubaker worked in public accounting at Ernst & Young and the former Arthur Andersen & Company. Mr. Brubaker is a CPA and has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Franklin & Marshall College.
